Hi there! Glad that you stopped in
I've waited a long time to have a studio where everyone could just hang out, share ideas, knowledge and the energy that comes with creating a new piece of art. I have always wanted to share my knowledge and just have fun with art. Don't get me wrong, art is very important. I take it very seriously. Enjoying the process that it takes to create a work of art is trip all by itself that becomes just as rewarding as the final piece. I hope to take many people on this journey or at least get them on one of their own. If we share it all the better.
I have been an artist for, well lets just say several years now. I achieved my first goal, selling my art, when I was just sixteen. It was for privately commissioned pieces of various subject matter that seemed to hold an interest to the client. From race cars, to big trucks to portraits. I found that I truly enjoyed giving customers the art that they were looking for and that still continues today. It must be said that my true love is in creating portraits. I find them the most interesting because I love to put in detail, yet some of my portraits are quite simple. There is something about capturing a persons spirit in the drawing that I also find intriguing. I continue with portrait work today along with all my other interests. Most often I work in pencil but occaisionally I will venture into pastels or colored pencils.
In 2000 I achieved another of my goals when I got my BFA. To my surprise it was in graphic design, not studio. This added a new element to my art. I now like to explore and see how I can take things to a new level by combining ideas or taking old ideas a little further. My latest artistic endeavor is working with glass. I haven't mastered it yet but it is definately worth the work. I look forward to seeing where it takes me.
When I find a few minutes that I can call my own I enjoy my harley, photography, being outdoors, friends, family and rescuing animals. I have a house full of them now. Six. All of these things could not have been achieved without a great support team. My friends of course but mostly it was my family. A very understanding husband, a fun loving daughter and a grandson who seems to be quite artistic himself. To them I say thank you and I love you all.
It is truly a great trip that I am on. So if you feel like stopping in and taking a spin on the creative waves I would love to have you. I believe we all can do art. I also believe that there is no wrong way to do it. Stop by anytime.
